The objective of this study was to estimate the fraction of a year of life lost associated with delirium at 1-year follow-up. Although delirium is an acute condition, it is associated with premature mortality.

Delirium Predicts Mortality

The goal of this study was to determine the independent effects of presence of delirium, type of delirium and severity of delirium symptoms on 12-month mortality. Among patients with delirium without dementia, greater severity of delirium symptoms was associated with higher mortality.
